List of Mailing Lists

General hints
Discussion groups usually maintain two network addresses - one for subscriptions (and other administrative commands) and the other for postings to the group. Unless alternative information is available, try subscribing to lists by sending mail to listserv@list_address with the single line message:

"subscribe list_name Username"
where Username is your own name, e.g. E.U. Phorbia

Sending the message "help" to listserv@list_address may also elicit a useful response.

Many lists are joined by loading a Web page and filling out a form. The numerous Yahoo Groups use this method. To join one of these lists you will first need to sign up for a free Yahoo userID and password.
