Autumn Show Report - 12 th September 2026
 
The society was delighted to see such a good number of entries for the Autumn Show. Our visitors were greeted by show benches of dahlias in many colours. There was a lovely mix of flowers across the show, including an orchid with scent!
Photography remains a popular category with some interesting interpretations of the topic.
 
It was a sunny day and our visitors enjoyed homemade cakes with tea during the afternoon.
The visitors took part in People's Choice voting. We asked everyone to select their favourite exhibit in three categories. The winners of each of these three categories was presented with a certificate during the prize giving and are included in our list of winners. This was the second time we had run this and many more people took part. We look forward to running the People's Choice next year.
 
Prior to prize giving one of our members, Steve James, spoke about his experience of growing alstroemerias. He shared some top tips which included the nursery to buy these plants from - HW Hyde & Son in Rusper, West Sussex.
Steve James had kindly donated two vases of his alstroemerias for auction. Two members each took a vase home and £30 was raised for the society.
 
We look forward to the Spring Show in 2027, which currently seems a long way off!
